Who Is It?

A grant provided by the Washington County Riverboat Foundation in 2018 helped area libraries create the Southeast Iowa Digital Library (SEIDL) and provide online access to back issues of local newspapers, including the Washington Evening Journal.  This allows us to extract the captions from Washington Evening Journal photos and name most subjects in the photos.  But many images from the collection were never published, so it's often not possible to identify people.  And, sometimes, people in published photos simply weren't named in the captions, or the digitized images from the original microfilm is blurred, making names, or other information, unreadable

We welcome your help in identifying the people in these photos. Here are some of the images needing identification.  If you know someone in the pictures, and we haven't identified them (or think we might be wrong about their names), leave us a comment.  Yes, we really do need your name and email so we can get back to you if we have questions.
