CALIFORNIA BOUND - The heaviest two-car shipment in American railroad history moved through Washington this week on route to California. It was a 98-foot vessel carried on a double flat car and weighing in at 1,079,200 pounds. The picture here was taken Wednesday when the train stopped on a Washmgton side track while the crew ate lunch. It was the third pressure vessel shipped by the A.O. Smith corporation of Milwaukee, Wisc., through Washington and on to the Tidewater Oil Co. at Avon, Calif. A total of six vessels used in a process which converts petroleum distillates into high quality motor gasoline will be shipped lo the California company. - Journal photo by Bob Elliott
