LOW CLEARANCE — Experience has taught eighth-grader John Mulcahy that the passage through several of the more antiquated doorways in the local junior high school building requires that the head be something less than straight up, lest a collision result. Mulcahy is seen bending his neck to pass through a doorway in the junior high manual training room. The low doorways, weak floors, outdated facilities, and in some places crumbling walls, are reasons voters in the Washington Community School District are being asked to approve a bond issue this month to replace the junior high school building. The special election on the bond issue has been set for May 26. — Journal photo by Bob Elliott
