SEIDL caption: FARM HOUSE BURNS — This farm house, owned by Ed Greiner but unoccupied, was almost totally destroyed by flames Thursday afternoon despite efforts of firemen from three neighboring communities to halt the spread of the blaze. Keota, Wellman and West Chester firemen answered the call to the farm which is six miles east of Keota. It is believed that sparks from a brush pile a quarter of a mile south of the house caused the blaze. Water on the trucks and two tank loads from West Chester was used to battle the blaze. The farm is known as the old Sam De Long place. Some concern was caused by the fact that the house is located in the vicinity of a big natural gas pipeline which crosses the county. - Journal photo by Charles Morris
