LIBRARY GIFT — A recent gift for the children's section of the Washington Public Library is a lage illuminated world globe which was given to the local library by the employees of the McCleery-Cumming Company here in memory of the late Mr. E.C. Carris of Washington. The two second grade girls shown here admiring the new gift are Becky Humston, seven year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Humsion Jr., and Nancy Mattes, eight year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mattes. The globe was given to the library as a memorial to Mr. Carris who was an intensive reader of the scientific and geographic books and enjoyed explaining the material to all youngsters. Mr. Carris died in October of last year. His son, Kenneth Carris, is bindery foreman at the McCleery-Cumming plant here. — Journal Photo by Bob Elllott.
